Dear Academy of Our Lady of Peace Community,

It is with immense joy and a shared spirit of dedication that I introduce Mr. Peter Harris as our new Assistant Head of School starting on June 15, 2024. As we continue to work to collectively embody the charism of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet, focusing on unifying love and a commitment to service of the dear neighbor without distinction, Peter’s career and personal philosophy align seamlessly with our mission, vision, and values.

Peter, a devoted father of three daughters and a passionate advocate for all-girls' education, brings over two decades of experience in Catholic education within the Diocese of San Diego, to our OLP community. His academic journey includes a Bachelor of Science in Political Science from Arizona State University, along with advanced studies in a Master's program in Educational Leadership at the University of San Diego. He also holds his teaching credential from National University, and a GATE certification from the University of California, San Diego.

His teaching career began at Saint John School in Encinitas, where he taught 3rd and 5th grades, nurturing young minds with dedication and care. He later transitioned into administrative roles, serving as Vice Principal and then Principal at Saint John School, followed by principalship roles at Saint Kieran Catholic School in El Cajon and Sacred Heart Parish School in Coronado, where he has served for the past 15 years. Throughout his career, Peter has been instrumental in launching significant initiatives such as robust technology programs and learning support centers, enhancing educational environments and community engagement.

Peter’s leadership is deeply rooted in the principles of servant leadership, characterized by compassion, respect, and an unwavering commitment to the welfare of others. These qualities resonate deeply with our school’s values of unifying love and service without distinction. Peter’s spirit and leadership are further exemplified by his active involvement in community service, as a member of the Saint Agnes Parish Council and a lecturer at Saint Agnes.

As we welcome Peter to our community, we are confident that his visionary leadership and compassionate approach will greatly contribute to our ongoing commitment to provide an empowering and inclusive educational environment for all our students.

Please join me in warmly welcoming Peter Harris to the Academy of Our Lady of Peace. We look forward to the inspiration and spirit of unifying love, he will undoubtedly bring to our community.

God Bless,

Lauren Lek, Ed.D.,

Head of School
