Boundless Journey

Founded and rooted in the Gospel values of the Catholic church and the charism of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet, preserving and honoring this history in our Boundless construction is of utmost importance. As you walk around Navarra Hall and Shiley Hall, notice the faces of our Sisters, the lace walls and balconies, the mosaic honoring Mother Teresa.

OLP is also committed to preserving the historical beauty of the Villa Montemar campus, ensuring that the exterior design is maintained and, where possible, enhanced. Preserving the hallmarks of the 1920's construction was paramount in our work with Domusstudio architects and Johnson & Jennings contractors.

St. Teresa of Calcutta

St. Teresa is the only Saint to have walked the OLP campus. While we have a beautiful mosaic of St. Teresa hanging in Navarra Hall, OLP was also the recipient of a second-class relic of hers. The reliquary will be set within our commemorative donor seal in Navarra Hall.

CSJ Historical Mural

The CSJ historical mural tells our story. From our founding sisters to our Class of 2020, our OLP community meets the moment, Uncommon Women for an Uncommon Time. This mural encapsulates our CSJ charism and houses the stories of our fearless Sisters.

Lace

Lacemaking has a long history in the CSJ. The first Sisters taught young women lacemaking as a means of self-support. Incorporating lace into our walls and balconies reminds us of the importance of empowering and educating young women.

Diverse Saints Mosaics

In showcasing our Catholic heritage, we had the opportunity to highlight diverse female Saints to represent the diversity of our community here on campus. We celebrate the saints amongst our cultures and throughout our world who showed their love of Christ through their corporal works of mercy.

  • St. Josephine Bakhita - Patron Saint of Sudan. Canonized 2000. Feast Day, February 8. Sudanese
  • St. Laura Montoya - Patron Saint of People Suffering from Racial Discrimination and Orphans. Canonized in 2013. Feast Day, October 21. Colombian
  • St. Marina of Omura - Patron Saint of Japan. Canonized 1987. Feast Day, September 28. Japanese
  • St. Kateri Tekakwitha - Patron Saint of Environment and Ecology. Canonized 2012. Feast Day, July 14. Mohawk
