Pilot Parents

As a CSJ school, in keeping with the tradition of serving the dear neighbor, it is the purpose of the Pilot Parents to support the Academy of Our Lady of Peace through volunteer work, funding efforts, parent education, and sponsoring and coordinating various events within the OLP community.

Participation in Pilot Parents is open to all parents and guardians of the students enrolled at the Academy of Our Lady of Peace. Our goal is to foster an inclusive community that provides extraordinary educational opportunities and a variety of enriching extracurricular activities for the entire student body.

Pilot Parents strive to support the OLP faculty, staff, and administration in the long-standing tradition of Educating Her to be “all of which woman is capable.”

Any parent/guardian of a currently enrolled OLP student may be a member of Pilot Parents.

There is no cost to be involved with Pilot Parents.

There is no volunteer requirement for Pilot Parents. Volunteerism is encouraged as a way to support campus activities and all opportunities are shared on the Pilot Parents page of the OLP website, aolp.org/pilotparents.

In addition to the information provided in the weekly newsletter, opportunities for parents to volunteer are provided on OLP’s SignUp Genius account which can be accessed through the Pilot Parents page of the OLP website, aolp.org/pilotparents.

In an effort to supplement the efforts of OLP’s staff, Pilot Parents are taking on larger roles in organizing and supporting campus events. These events may include the OLP/Saints freshman tailgate, OLP’s homecoming dance, and Spirit Store pop ups in addition to many other opportunities.

Pilot Parent meetings take place on the fourth Monday of every month from 6:30-7:30pm in the OLP student library. Meeting schedules may vary to account for holidays and other no-school days.

The one hour meetings provide updates about special projects, campus activities and educational resources to parents. Guest speakers include OLP faculty and staff as well as expert speakers on important issues. In addition to discussing school activities and opportunities for engagement, the monthly meetings offer a great opportunity for parents to meet one another and socialize.

In order to ensure that all parents have an equal opportunity to be involved and to have his/her voice heard, Pilot Parents has chosen to not adopt a traditional parent-organization structure of elected leadership positions. Instead, meetings are facilitated by a combination of OLP staff and parent volunteers. Additionally, each class selected 1-4 parents to serve as their “Class Point of Contact.” The “Class Point of Contact” ensures that all information and announcements are communicated the other parents of that class in a timely manner. The class point of contacts for the 2019-2020 school year are:

Class of 2023: Leigh Meideros, Annie Strazzeri, Gina Ah Moo ‘87
Class of 2022: Michelle Wakefield, Toni Russo
Class of 2021: Siobhan Downing, Rosie Estrada
Class of 2020: Ken Soto, Rita Rodriguez, Cesar Rodriguez

In addition to volunteering, Pilot Parents supports OLP through a variety of fundraising efforts.
