OLP Athletics

Athletics Announcements

As many of you have heard, there has been a flurry of announcements and changes to high school athletics in the last month. The combination of the San Diego Superior Court order and the latest California Department of Health guidelines have produced competing guidelines with limited clarity on which to follow in order to successfully begin and complete certain sports programs. For soccer and lacrosse, please see information below regarding our information meetings next week along with tryout information for those two sports. In addition, track & field and softball tryouts are also listed below.

We will have more information next week specifically pertaining to our volleyball, water polo, and basketball programs. We understand that other schools and schools districts have advertised different start and tryout dates and this may cause some confusion. Please know that OLP Athletics is working tirelessly to get as many of our students active in our teams in a safe and healthy environment. We thank you for your support and patience.

Sports Post-COVID-19

San Diego County Office Education and OLP requires that students who have had a history of COVID-19 obtain an additional COVID-19 clearance. Please click on the form here to have your doctor complete and submit the form to the athletics office at [email protected].

Parent/Student-Athlete Informational Nights

Parents and Student-Athletes are invited to join us for a sport specific Zoom Informational meetings to discuss our plans for Soccer and Lacrosse. Please see the dates below. Please check the weekly bulletin for zoom links. If you have any questions, please email [email protected]

For the latest on Athletics, please look at the Weekly Bulletin as we will continue to update with any new information and updates.

It is the philosophy of the Department of Athletics, as espoused by the Director of Athletics and the entire coaching staff, to foster mutual respect among participants, instill a commitment to excellence within each athlete and to promote team unity, cooperation and self-discipline. Further, individual athletes are encouraged to become the finest athlete possible, learning life-long team-building skills and how to discern the appropriate value of sports.

OLP remains at the forefront of athletic recognition with 20 competitive CIF interscholastic athletic teams and four Club Sport teams.

Tryout Information for Track & Field, Softball, Soccer, and Lacrosse are listed below. If you have any questions or concerns, please email [email protected]. As a reminder, in order to participate in OLP Athletics, you must attend in-person classes on campus. If you are a virtual student, you may attend tryouts but must switch to in-person learning in order to accept a roster spot on a team.

For the latest on Athletics, please look at the Weekly Bulletin as we will continue to update with any new information and updates.

Registration and Physicals

If you have not already registered for your sport, please register here. A current physical (dated after June 1, 2020) will be required in order to participate. Please upload both sides of your physical form and complete the registration. Once your account has been reviewed, you will get an email from the Athletics Department that you are cleared to try-out. Please print your email confirmation and bring it to your coach on the first day of tryouts (TBD).

Sports Post-COVID-19

Non CIF Sports

We continue to reach out to the leagues and organizations for Archery, Equestrian, and Sand Volleyball. As soon as the information becomes available, we will post it here and our website. If you didn’t see last month's update on surf, we were notified by the Scholastic Surf Series that they have come to the unfortunate decision to cancel this year’s surf season. In an email to all surf coaches they stated, “ As you know, we have been working closely with the permit departments across the state. Unfortunately even with the Stay-at-home order lifted they cannot accommodate our permit requests in time for this season. There are not enough weekends and venues to provide a 3-contest season for our High School Divisions.”
