Michael Stringer started working at OLP in 1999 because of its excellent academic reputation. As a teacher of art, he has two main goals. The first is to provide his students with the necessary technical skills and knowledge of materials through the media covered in class. His second goal is to introduce his students to the idea of visual analysis, both in regards to their own work and that of others. Students are taught a number of aesthetic systems to judge their work in visual terms such as color theory, the use of the elements and principles of design. After this, Michael works one-on-one with each student to tackle a creative challenge.
