Ms. Laura Rodriguez

English Department

Academy of Our Lady of Peace Class of 2007

After graduating from OLP in 2007, Laura attended San Diego State University graduating with a BA in English. She then applied for and was accepted into the Single Subject Credential Program at SDSU for the fall of 2011. This program is divided into a number of different cohorts, each with their own special focus, and the one she studied under is entitled Linked Learning, which uses academic curriculum partnered with real life experiences in a professional environment.

The school where she completed her student teaching assignment, Kearny High School’s Construction Tech Academy, is a certified Linked Learning school, and it was there that she received a lot of experience working in Professional Learning Communities not only within my subject of English, but also by the grade level in which she was teaching.

After she completed this program, she became a substitute teacher for the San Diego Unified School District and spent a year working at various school sites and in classrooms of different grade levels; towards the end of the year, she was given the amazing opportunity to become a substitute for OLP. She is very excited to start her career at her alma mater.
