Our second Professional Networking event, Sips and Science, which took place on October 19, was a resounding success! Our host, Illumina, provided a stunning backdrop for this meeting of alumnae spanning every decade from the 1960’s through 2013. After some time for light bites and libations at the brand new i3 building on Illumina’s campus, our very own Cassandra Gamboa ’06, the Employee Communications Specialist at Illumina, presented an overview of the research and outreach work done by this company. Cited by the MIT Technology Review as “the smartest company in the world (and it’s not Google),” and by Forbes as “one of the world’s most innovative companies,” this biotechnology company is guided by their mission to use genomic research to benefit humanity. In her presentation, Cassandra declared that the work being done to fulfill this mission is what brings her to work every single day. Thank you Illumina for making this event possible!
This event also provided an opportunity for our OLP sisters to reconnect. Those who attended expressed appreciation for this exceptional event that recognized their very special and important role as alumnae in the OLP community. They look forward to to attending future events and bringing fellow alumnae with them to celebrate the shared OLP experience!
Watch for details of our Fitnez Alumnae Boot Camp on November 19 and our next Professional Networking event on January 11. We are also launching a brand new Alumnae Relations Council that will work with OLP on all-things alumnae! Read more about our council here.
