Merit-Based Scholarships Available at Acceptance to OLP

Merit based scholarships will be awarded to each approximately 10% of the incoming freshmen class. Mirroring the collegiate process applicants will be invited to apply based on demonstrated academic achievement (academic grades and entrance exam scores), leadership traits, alumna legacy status and positive citizenship within their seventh and eighth grade years. Applicants will receive invitations to apply for a merit based scholarship the first week of February. Students may receive merit based scholarships congruently with financial aid; one award does not affect the other.

Fontbonne Scholar Award
To become a Fontbonne Scholar eligible students need to achieve a national percentile composite score of 88% or above on the High School Placement Test with commensurate 7th and 8th grade achievement. Awarded funds are applied over a four year period, as long as the student maintains a minimum 3.5 GPA or higher and exhibits strong citizenship. Awards will be distributed in the amount of $8,000 per year while enrolled at the Academy.

Pilot Leadership Scholarships
Scholarships are awarded to selected applicants based on demonstrated leadership experience and potential as well as well-rounded cocurricular involvement. Scholarships are renewable based on good academic standing and so long as students are demonstrating a continued commitment towards pursuing leadership opportunities and co-curricular activities. Awards will be distributed in the amount of $4,000 per academic year.

Alumna Scholarships
Daughters of Academy of Our Lady of Peace alumnae are eligible for a scholarship upon entrance. Eligible students need to achieve a national percentile composite score of 70% or above on the High School Placement Test to commensurate with 7th and 8th grade achievement. Awards of $2,500 will be distributed upon entrance, they are renewable each year based on good academic standing.

Monica Hohn Manzer
This $2,000 scholarship will be awarded to a student who has demonstrated academic potential and need for financial assistance to make attendance at The Academy of Our Lady of Peace possible. This student must be accepted to the Academy and complete the financial aid process by the posted deadline. Students will be invited to apply based on their academic achievement and documented need. One scholarship will be distributed upon entrance and will be applied for all four years based on good academic standing.

Merit-Based Scholarships Available to Continuing Students

Larissa Eklund Dethlefs ’94 Memorial Scholarship Opportunity for Current OLP Juniors
Current OLP Juniors are invited to apply for a $4000 scholarship applied to next year’s tuition in memory of Larissa Eklund Dethlefs ’94. The Larissa Eklund-Dethlefs ’94 Memorial Scholarship honors a woman who embodied the spirit of OLP through her vitality, open-mindedness, spirituality, and inner beauty. Through this fund Larissa’s family and friends pay tribute and remember her for what she brought to the world in a short 25 years of life. This scholarship will be presented to the recipient at the Evening of Excellence Awards ceremony in May.  Applications will be distributed on the first Monday of April.

Sister Dolores Anchondo Leadership and Legacy Scholarship
In 2014, the Academy established the Sister Dolores Anchondo Leadership and Legacy Scholarship to recognize those students who embody the OLP mission and CSJ charisms of gentleness, peace and joy. Specifically, this scholarship recognizes students who have demonstrated significant and consistent contributions in the areas of Leadership, Service and Spirit. Current 9th, 10th and 11th graders are invited to apply for a $2500 scholarship applied to next year’s tuition. These scholarships will be presented to the recipients at the Evening of Excellence Awards ceremony in May.  Applications will be distributed on the first Monday of April.

Ann Navarra Scholarship

The Ann Navarra Scholarship is sponsored by Ann Navarra ’63. Recipients of this award are returning, well-rounded juniors or seniors who contribute positively to the OLP community. They model the spirit of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet on a daily basis and by doing so, build the spirit of sisterhood and demonstrate Christ-like love in our world. The total scholarship amount awarded varies each year depending on the number of participants.

Faculty & Staff Scholarship

The Faculty & Staff Scholarship is offered to one current and continuing student who exemplifies the mission of the Academy of Our Lady of Peace in her day to day life.  The amount offered is determined by the amount that is collected in the fund annually.  

Additional Scholarship Available Through the Diocese of San Diego

Bishop Flores Scholars Tuition Assistance Program
The 2016-2017 school year marks the diocese’s second year of the Bishop Flores Scholars Tuition Assistance Program to provide annual K-12 tuition assistance totaling $1,000,000.00. In honor of Catholic Schools Week, families may apply for the Bishop Flores Scholars Tuition Assistance Program beginning January 2017 through March 2017. For information on eligibility, deadlines, applicant qualifications, award distributions, costs, recipient responsibilities and other facts, please talk to your local school’s administrators and visit the Bishop Flores Scholars Tuition Assistance Program website at http://www.bishopfloresscholars.org.

Financial Aid

OLP is committed to offering tuition assistance to make attendance at OLP possible for students from all socioeconomic backgrounds.  Families are asked to complete the FAST (Financial Aid for School Tuition, powered by ISM)  process by January 15, 2017  in order to qualify for financial aid.  Families interested in applying for financial aid should note their intention on their OLP application. Applications for Tuition Assistance for the 2017-2018 school year will be available on December 1, 2016.

All students currently enrolled or registered as an incoming freshmen student are eligible for financial aid.  Students receiving aid are required to maintain a cumulative grade point average of 2.0 or higher.

Grants are determined by the relative financial need of each applicant, the size of the applicant pool and the amount of available funds.

Just Announced! OLP is dedicated to making this educational experience as accessible to as many students as possible.  In an effort to support our Catholic school community special consideration will be given within the financial assistance application process to families who have one or both parents employed by a Catholic School within the boundaries of the Diocese of San Diego.
