The National Youth Leadership Forum on Law and CSI is seeking nominations from faculty for attendees. Students, if you are interested in being nominated for this amazing program held in Washington DC, please send an email to Mrs. Favela at lfavela@aolp.org. Please make your subject line “CSI” and in the body of the message, please tell me your name, your home mailing address including zip, and your current grade level. You should be able to show leadership and academic excellence at the highest level (3.3 GPA required). The forum introduces law and forensics, including crime scene investigation, as well as the fields of law and our legal system. Participants tour the DC area and local law schools, meet federal court judges and university law professors, and participate in workshops regarding the Supreme Court, trails, leadership, and crime scene simulations. Send your email of interest by today, October 1^st.

On Tuesday, October 5^th all freshmen will report to their Section rooms for Cocurricular to begin the interest inventory section of the PLAN exam – the test students will be taking on Wednesday, October 13^th.  Students need to bring a number 2 pencil to complete this portion of the exam, which will take roughly

45 minutes to complete.

The Knights of Columbus are sponsoring an essay contest for high school students.  The topic is, “Why President Kennedy’s Words Still Matter.”  First place is $1500.  First prize also includes a free trip to Denver in August to receive the award.  Information is available at www.kofc.org/JFK.  All essays need to be submitted to Dr. Blade.

Any student who is interested in participating in interaction business classes for young entrepreneurs may obtain information in the Front Office. Free classes are offered two Saturdays each month from October 16^th to April 9^th. The application deadline is September 30^th.

Our next all school Mass is the Feast of All Saints on Nov. 1, with Bishop Brom.  For this special event, Campus Ministry Core Team would like to have multi-lingual Prayers of the Faithful the way we did for last year’s Mass on the Grass. Are you fluent in another language? (Pig Latin does not count) Can you translate a petition from English into your language?  (Maybe your parents or teachers can help.)If so, we’d love to have you participate.  Just stop by room 107 and see Ms. Knapp.

SERVICE HOUR OPPORTUNITY:  Mana San Diego is looking for volunteers to help with the 23^rd Latina Success Conference to be held October 23, 2010 at the Jacobs Center.  They need four volunteers the night before, Oct. 22, to prep for the conference (about 2 hours, 6:30-8:30 am).  The day of the conference a number of volunteers are needed to help with registration and the overall event (3-4 hours shifts from 8:30 am – 4:00 pm).  Mana San Diego is a nonprofit national women’s organization that assists young girls and women.  If interested contact Barbara Jimenez at cmcbjimenez@cox.net.  Check out the organization’s website at www.manasd.org.

One of the services the ASD Climber Foundation provides is to help families of autistic children locate volunteers in their area.  They have a family in San Diego who is currently looking for reliable, high school age volunteers to help with the implementation of a social skills program with their 5 year old, Dominic who was diagnosed with Autism at the age of 3.

All Freshmen will participate in the CoCurricular Surviving Freshman Year programs on  Thursday, 9/23 in the Event Center.  Students should leave their book bags , purses, etc. in their Section rooms before reporting to the Event Center.

All Freshmen will participate in the CoCurricular Surviving Freshman Year programs on Tuesday, 9/21 and Thursday, 9/23 in the Event Center.  Students should leave their book bags , purses, etc. in their Section rooms before reporting to the Event Center.

SERVICE HOUR OPPORTUNITY:  Man San Diego is looking for volunteers tohelp with the 23^rd Latina Success Conferenc4e to be held October 23, 2010 at the Jacobs Center.  They need four volunteers the night before, Oct. 22, to prep for the conference (about 2 hours, 6:30-8:30 am).  The day of the conference a number of volunteers are needed to help with registration and the overall event (3-4 hours shifts from 8:30 am – 4:00 pm).  Mana San Diego is a nonprofit national women’s organization that assists young girls and women.  If interested contact Barbara Jimenez at cmcbjimenez@cox.net.  Check out the organization’s website at www.manasd.org.

SERVICE HOUR OPPORTUNITY:  ASD Climber Foundation

One of the services the ASD Climber Foundation provides is to help families of autistic children locate volunteers in their area.  They have a family in San Diego who is currently looking for reliable, high school age volunteers to help with the implementation of a social skills program with their 5 year old, Dominic who was diagnosed with Autism at the age of 3.
