The Academy would like to invite you to visit the Archives Room in Carondelet Hall.

The Academy of Our Lady of Peace has a rich history dating back to 1882. In the Archives files are pictures of the school at 3rd and A streets up to the purchase of the Vandruff Estate in Normal Heights in 1924.

The room holds annuals from 1945, uniforms from different eras, and albums the girls made as students from the 1920’s to the present. In one corner are rolls of blueprints of the Academy grounds and buildings.

Some of the dishes and silverware that Sisters and boarders used are displayed in the glass door bookcases which used to hold the spiritual reading books (as this room was at one time the Sisters’ library). Rings, student body pins, Sodality pins, and medals of achievement are also displayed in these cases.

History of the 75th, 100th and 110th jubilee anniversaries are in folders around the room.

One wall shows the Excellence in Education pictures taken in 1988-89, 1992-93 and 1999-2000.

The life of the Academy during all its years fills the room accented by the four class colors of red, yellow, blue and green.

For those of you who do not have a computer, you can follow the news of the school in the Alumnae news.

If you have any articles or memorabilia, they are most welcomed and your gift and name will be recorded in the Donations to the Archives Room book. I will see that this is done!
