Please find below information for the 2024 OLP Summer School for incoming 9 - 12 grade students including specific policies on attendance, registration and more. Registration for the 2024 Summer School will be available in February 2024. OLP Summer School is for current students, registered at OLP.   • Enrollment: OLP Summer School is available for currently enrolled, and accepted incoming ninth grade OLP students. Those young women currently not attending OLP who are interested in taking a summer school course in order to meet a graduation requirement, and who also meet our OLP admissions criteria, may request special permission via the Assistant Head of School. This will only be considered on a case-by-case basis.
  • Registration: The registration period for Summer School 2024 is February 5, 2024 – May 1, 2024. Class space is on a first-come, first-serve basis. Priority will be given to students who are taking a course for the first time, and a course that is part of a required sequential series of courses. Registration is not considered complete until class fees are paid in full.
  • Fees: The tuition fee does not include the textbook cost. Tuition fees include other materials and laboratory expenses. A semester course is $500 (unless otherwise stated). A year-long course is $1,000.
  • Cancellation Policy: By May 1, 2024 classes not reaching a minimum enrollment will be canceled. Students in those classes will receive a full refund including the registration fee.
  • Withdrawal or Dismissal: Students who disenroll by May 1, 2024 will be charged a $75 withdrawal fee PER SEMESTER and refunded the remaining balance for each class. Disenrolling after May 1st will result in the forfeiture of all tuition refunds. Notification of disenrollment or changes must be made in writing to the Assistant Head of School, Dr. Sato at [email protected], by the student’s parent/guardian. Students who do not follow the summer school policies or who are absent more than one day in either semester during summer school will be dismissed. Dismissals will result in the forfeiture of all tuition refunds.
  • Important Note: All summer school courses require in-person attendance unless it is designated as an online course. While Summer School online courses are asynchronous, there will be a mandatory weekly synchronous sessions arranged by the instructor of the course. Please check the course descriptions on this form for more information. Information regarding course instructors, texts, etc. will be released two weeks prior to the start date of the course.
  • Attendance: Students are permitted to be absent for only two days per session. A student who misses more than two days in a session will be immediately dropped from the course. Students who are excessively tardy will also be dropped from the course. No credit will be given for any work done during the course once a student is dropped. A refund will not be issued.

Classes meet 8:00 AM – 12:00 PM Monday – Friday unless otherwise noted or designated as “Online.”

Those students needing to make-up just one semester of a year-long course, after registering, will need to indicate if you are taking the 1st or 2nd semester. Please note the dates for the separate terms. Semester 1: June 10 – June 28; Semester 2: July 1 – July 19

    Pilot Summer Academy 2024

    After a brief hiatus, OLP will once again be offering its own school led Pilot Summer Academy run by OLP Alumna Director, Abby Cota '22. OLP Pilot Summer Academy is a STEAM Focused multi-disciplinary Summer Camp for young girls in grades rising 3rd - 7th (having completed 2nd grade through 6th grade).

    Pilot Summer Academy provides students a holistic daily camp experience from 8:30 am - 3:30 pm, around Science, Robotics, Pilot Television, Arts, and Dance all hosted in the OLP state-of-the-art facilities. Each day, students will participate in a daily faith-based young women's specific devotional geared toward issues facing our young girls' today. Each day, student's will bring home their devotional and verse (walking with purpose), and parents will receive an email about how they can expound upon the day's faith discussion. Additional activities include Camp Shirt, games, crafts, special guest speakers, field trips, Friday Fun Day, and more!   

    Camp will begin on Monday, June 17, 2024 and run through Friday, July 19, 2024. Over the 5 weeks, there will be 3 coordinated bus field trips around San Diego providing Campers the opportunity to experience hands-on-learning and first-hand leadership! Stay tuned for much more to come. 

    Costs

    OLP is committed to providing a robust, comprehensive, STEAM summer leadership experience that is accessible and affordable for all. Recognizing the many financial burdens on parents, we are committed to charging the base price for the program. We encourage families to consider the 5-week program to experience a comprehensive program, but understand if only able to join us for a week.

    • Parents can choose the entire 5 week session running from June 17, 2024 through July 19, 2024 for $1000 per camper (note that there will be no camp on the Federal Holidays of Wednesday, June 19 and Thursday, July 4).
    • Alternatively, parents can choose to sign-up their daughter for a one-week camp experience at $275 per camper per week
      • Week 1: June 17 - June 21 (note that there is no camp Wednesday, June 19)
      • Week 2: June 24 - June 28
      • Week 3: July 1 - July 5 (note that there is no camp Thursday, July 4)
      • Week 4: July 8 - July 12
      • Week 5: July 15 - July 19

    Work Experience Opportunities

    • Young women who are rising 8th and 9th graders have the opportunity to serve as Camp Interns, receiving Volunteer Hours. They will also each receive a personal letter from the Pilot Summer Academy Director to submit with their personal resume for high school and beyond. Applications will be available starting mid-January. 
    • Young women who are current OLP Students and are rising 10th - 12th graders have the opportunity to earn High School course credit (Internship Elective Course) and serve as Camp Assistant Counselors. They will also each receive a personal letter from the Pilot Summer Academy Director to submit with their personal resume for high school and beyond. Camp Assistant Counselors have the opportunity to work with OLP Faculty in specific roles assisting in speciality STEAM disciplines, which would be noted on your OLP transcript. Applications will be available starting mid-January. 
    • Each camp small group will be led by a Camp Counselor, who is a current college student, working toward a degree program. Preference will be given to an OLP and/or Catholic High School graduate. Applications will be available starting mid-January.

    Note:All camp volunteer Interns, Assistant Counselors and Camp Counselors must commit to a training session June 13 and June 14, and the five-week camp session from June 17, 2024 through July 19, 2024 from 8:00 am - 4:00 pm daily (note that June 19 and July 4 are federal holidays).
